Chris and Jessica had a gorgeous day at Carillon Beach to tie the knot. This Spring wedding took place on the beach with a reception to follow at the Carillon Beach Meeting House. We love what Renee with Ceremony Design Company did with florals and decor, alongside an amazing team of 30a-List vendors. We asked Jessica to tell us a little more about her big day:
How did you two meet?
We met in high school through mutual friends and became best friends throughout school, then started dating seriously in college.
How did Chris propose?
July 4th weekend, we went to Lake Ouachita with Chris’ family like we did every year. On July 1st, after a fun day on the lake, Chris asked me to come with him to take the dogs on a walk before dinner. I thought nothing of it and said yes of course. As we got further onto the trail, and into deeper conversation, we came up to an area by all the trees closer to the water. I noticed an arbor with flowers and hanging picture frames. I caught a glimpse of two glasses and a bottle of champagne — I immediately gasped and said “CHRIS. WE’RE ABOUT TO RUIN SOMEONE’S PROPOSAL! LET’S GO!!!” As I’m looking in every direction for another couple to walk down, Chris has continued walking. I catch up to tell him that we need to hurry up and go, and I notice one of the picture frames spin and it’s a picture I instantly recognize. It finally hits me that it’s US, and as more frames are turning from the wind, they quickly reveal more memories throughout our relationship. Before I could realize what was happening, I look to Chris and he’s already on one knee with a ring in hand and that “gotcha” smile that I love. I don’t think I stopped crying happy tears from that moment until the end of the night. Now here we are!! 🙂
Side note just for your entertainment: We laugh about it because everyone seems to ask, “Did you know he was going to do it?” I had no clue it was coming (or else I would’ve gotten my nails done)… Since I just thought we were taking the dogs on a walk, I didn’t bother to put on makeup, threw on athletic shorts, my Chaco sandals, and to top it off– I was wearing a t-shirt that said “DAY DRINKER” on it. LOL. It was just us in our normal element and I wouldn’t have had it any other way because it was the BEST surprise! 🙂
Why did you choose Carillon Beach/30a for your wedding?
We knew that we wanted to do a destination wedding on a beach. Chris had been to Seaside and I had heard amazing things about it. After visiting the area for vacation — I really loved it!
