Wedding Trends: What’s In, What’s Out in 2016

Let it begin. It’s now 2016 and your Facebook newsfeed is filling up with posts about new engagements, brides to be, and an exorbitant amount of clever hashtags. Here at 30a Wedding Co. we are loving every minute of it. But, now that 2015 is in the books, we’re taking a look back on what was trending, what will remain, and what won’t be back for 2016 on the Emerald Coast.

TRENDING

Hello bridesmaid bling! Catch a glimpse of the gasping bridesmaid dresses in Pure7 Studios photo of Caroline and Andrew’s wedding (below). As you can see, the traditional look is getting a very “Gasby” makeover.

The Swinging 20's are back with this popular trend for Bridesmaid dresses. The Roaring 20’s are back with this popular trend for Bridesmaid dresses.

The nude toned, sequins-ridden gowns are finding themselves more and more in the hands of bride besties. They make for a very elegant compliment to the bride against the backdrop of some of 30A Wedding Co’s best wedding venues; in this case Watersound Beach.

STICKING AROUND

Big white tents (also very “Gatsby”) make for a very romantic wedding reception under the big top (Below). Add some twinkle lights and mood lighting under a big, white, sail-like marquees and you have yourself an easy back-up plan if Florida weather tries to come between you and your perfect day. If it stays sunny you’ve got yourself an awesome area for your planned reception like Caroline & Nick!

We hope your initials make for a great stencil because embroidery is in like Flynn. Photo sessions with bridesmaids are flooded with the initials of the bride-to-be and her closest friends monogrammed on some very trendy bathrobes – a gift that keeps on giving. This Southern tradition is one that will be sticking around for a while.

GOT. TO. GO.

As much as we love Pinterest and it’s DIY concepts, I think we can  all agree that burlap may not be a trend to come out of 2015. Other wedding staples like natural wood and beautiful greens, as seen in this head-table by Myrtie Blue (below), are elegant and timeless. While burlap had a good run with some gorgeous events it may be a country theme that we leave in the past.

Hello everyone! My name is Corey Dobridnia and I am currently employed as the Public Information Officer at the Walton County Sheriff's Office. In a past life I was the weekend anchor for WMBB News13 in Panama City. I was a reporter during the week and covered Tyndall Air Force Base and NSA Panama City. I graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor's in communication and got my Master's Degree from Florida State University - Panama City in Corporate and Public Communication. ERAU was also where I lettered in Woman's Volleyball. I'm originally a Rhody, born in Providence, Rhode Island and raised all around the Northeast until my mother moved us to Jupiter, Florida where I attended high school. I still continue to play volleyball (on the beach now) and also love to travel, hike, Crossfit, and spend time with my family. I am so excited to take on the new endeavor of blogging for 30A Wedding Co. My passion is writing and telling stories and I cannot wait to get started!
